Demolition EscapeGame Design

In the 3rd year of my Communication and Multimedia Design degree I started a minor High-end game design to increase my knowledge about creating games

In the project phase of this minor me and a group of students been busy with developing a party game called Demolition Escape. In Demolition Escape a group of 5 players plays in a party where they get divided into 4 Escapees and a Demolitionist. The goal of the escapees is to parkour through floors and try to reach the bottom floor as fast as possible. During this the players can withhold eachothers from reaching the bottom floor, or get stopped by bombs the Demolitionist can place on the floors during and before the game.

For the production of this game I was part of the group of Game Designers. Our task was to develop the gameplay of the game and everything that comes with it. We created the gameplay and wrote this down in a game design document so the art and programming team could start creating the game in unity and maya.

Personally I developed multiple aspects of the game. Including the storyline, player journey, the tutorialisation of the game, multiple levels of the game, a website, storyboards for animations and game play analyses used for tweaking the game. This all happened in multiple sprints where I used research as the foundation for my products.

As the whole game design group we designed the gameplay including the gameplay of the demolitionist and escapees and what items and abilities they could use during the game.

Overall the whole game design process was a really joyful and learnful experience and I hope in the future to work on products in the same kind of setting.

With this minor I learned alot about game design theory, game developing, 3d modeling in Maya, working in Unity3D and with Github.
